LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mark and Terri Little upon the occasion
of being named a 2016 Champion for Children of the Capital Region by
Northern Rivers
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Mark and Terri
Little upon the occasion of being named a 2016 Champion for Children of
the Capital Region by Northern Rivers to be celebrated on Tuesday, May
3, 2016, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Mark and Terri Little have been called upon to contribute
their time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and
have always given of themselves unstintingly; the couple was chosen to
receive this auspicious award in recognition of their contributions to
children's health, safety and wellness; and
WHEREAS, For nearly 30 years, Mark and Terri Little have worked tire-
lessly to make their adopted hometown of Schenectady, New York, a better
place to live, work and raise a family; and
WHEREAS, Mark Little, who retired in 2015 from his position as Chief
Technology Officer at GE and leader of GE Global Research in Niskayuna,
and Terri Little, a former teacher with a long history of involvement
with local nonprofit organizations, are now focusing on improving access
to education and housing through their Little Family Foundation; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to the community,
Mark and Terri Little support countless local initiatives including the
Schenectady Free Health Clinic, SAFE Inc., Bethesda House, Ellis Hospi-
tal, United Way, Boys and Girls Clubs, Girls, Inc., Proctors, and
Concerned for the Hungry; and
WHEREAS, Terri Little, who serves as a board member at SAFE Inc. and
the Schenectady Foundation, is a classroom volunteer at a Schenectady
school; additionally, Mark was recently selected to lead Schenectady's
Smart City Advisory Commission, charged with utilizing technology to
improve the quality of life in the city; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Mark and Terri Little's passion for providing
help and support for the children, adults and families of Schenectady
and the Capital Region has extended to the next generation, as their two
adult children have taken on active roles in the family foundation; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Mark and Terri Little have stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Mark and Terri Little have displayed
throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mark and Terri Little upon the occasion of being named a 2016
Champion for Children of the Capital Region by Northern Rivers; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mark and Terri Little.
