LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Margaret Lamb upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the 2014 Geneseean of the Year Award by
the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Margaret Lamb has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Margar-
et Lamb upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2014
Geneseean of the Year Award by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce;
and
WHEREAS, Margaret "Peggy" Lamb has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, For the past 46 years, Peggy Lamb has generously shared her
time and talents with various non-profit organizations in Genesee Coun-
ty; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Keuka College, Peggy Lamb was raised in
Hamburg, New York, until she moved to Oakfield, New York, in 1968; the
Genesee community has benefited from her hard work and compassion ever
since; and
WHEREAS, Since 2011, Peggy Lamb has volunteered for the Genesee County
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children program; she
underwent significant training to learn the legal and procedural
requirements of this highly sensitive program; and
WHEREAS, Today, this exceptional woman is a member of several boards
including the Genesee Symphony Orchestra since 2010, Muriel H. Marshall
Fund Planning and Advisory Team since 2006, and the recently formed
Richmond Memorial Library Foundation; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Peggy Lamb co-Chairs the tennis tournament
portion of the UMMC Foundation's Annual Golf and Tennis Tournament; and
WHEREAS, Peggy Lamb's previous board and committee affiliations
include: Genesee County Chamber of Commerce Board and Agricultural
Committee where she worked to develop the first Annual Decision Maker's
Agricultural Tour in 1989; Genesee County Office for the Aging Meals on
Wheels, working with local officials and other volunteers to organize
and launch the program in 1974, and served as its original chairperson;
the YMCA Board of Directors, past President; and the United Medical
Center Foundation, past Board Member; and
WHEREAS, In her hometown, Peggy Lamb has served on the Oakfield
Betterment Committee and Labor Daze Committee; she is also a Church
Trustee at the Oakfield Methodist Church, and has served in multiple
leadership roles throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her volunteer efforts, Peggy Lamb was hired as
an Educational Tour Consultant at First Choice Travel, a position she
held for 10 years, and as a bookkeeper for Lamb Farms, the family busi-
ness; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Peggy Lamb has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Gordon, and their
three sons, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Peggy Lamb has displayed throughout
her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Margaret Lamb upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the 2014 Geneseean of the Year Award by the Genesee County
Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Margaret Lamb.
