LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Missy Sadler of Marlboro High School,
upon the occasion of being named 2016 Basketball Player of the Year by
the POUGHKEEPSIE JOURNAL
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success, and developing a sense
of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
young individuals within our midst, who strive for athletic and academic
excellence through rigorous training and mental and physical discipline;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Missy Sadler of Marlboro High School upon the occasion of being named
2016 Basketball Player of the Year by the POUGHKEEPSIE JOURNAL; and
WHEREAS, Missy Sadler is a senior guard/forward on the Marlboro High
School Iron Dukes Girls Basketball Team, and is widely considered one of
the best basketball players in her area; and
WHEREAS, A gifted scorer and talented young athlete, Missy Sadler
averaged 17 points per game for the Iron Dukes during the 2015-2016
season while shooting 68 percent from the field; she also broke her
school's program record for most rebounds in a single game with 27 in
her team's Mid-Hudson Athletic League final win over Pine Plains; and
WHEREAS, Known for being an outstanding leader both on and off the
court, Missy Sadler guided her team to its first New York State Class B
semifinals appearance in 32 years, while scoring nine points and leading
the team with 13 rebounds; and
WHEREAS, Humble in spirit, this esteemed young athlete always takes
her successes in stride and is quick to credit her fellow team members,
as no team can succeed without talent throughout the entire roster; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and Missy Sadler has clearly made a contribution to the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of her school; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Missy Sadler upon the occasion of being named 2016 Basketball
Player of the Year by the POUGHKEEPSIE JOURNAL; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Missy Sadler.
