LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Child
Development Center upon the occasion of its designation as Business of
the Years on June 3, 2016
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly recognize those businesses within the State of New York which
have positively impacted their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Child Development Center upon the occa-
sion of its designation as Business of the Years by the Sidney Chamber
of Commerce, to be celebrated at its annual dinner meeting on Friday,
June 3, 2016, at the Sidney Elks Lodge; and
WHEREAS, The Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Child Development Center is
a not-for-profit local business providing care to children ages six
weeks to 12 years; its flexible schedule accommodates working families
in the community; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Child
Development Center, licensed by the New York State Office of Children
and Family Services, has enrolled approximately 3,500 children; it
currently employs 15 full time staff members and five part time employ-
ees; and
WHEREAS, The Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Child Development Center
offers an educational preschool program and developmentally appropriate
programs for infants and toddlers, which allow them to develop at their
own pace while in a stimulating social environment; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this vital business has a school age program
which provides care after school and on vacation days and snow days;
during the summer months, it also offers a large camp program to ensure
children who are out of school are busy, safe and entertained; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 23 year history, the Dorothy and Lewis
B. Cullman Child Development Center has been the backbone of the commu-
nity, supporting and giving form to the residents and communities which
it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Child Devel-
opment Center is in direct correlation to the efforts of its staff,
whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impres-
sive commitment, unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the business and the community
it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Dorothy and Lewis
B. Cullman Child Development Center; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when busi-
nesses of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Child Development Center upon
the occasion of its designation as Business of the Years on June 3,
2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Child Development Center.
