LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Brenden O'Flaherty upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition by the Orange County Interscho-
lastic Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Brenden
O'Flaherty upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2016
Senior Scholar-Athlete; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Brenden O'Flaherty has distin-
guished himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and matu-
rity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purposeful-
ness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Brenden O'Flaherty, a student at Cornwall High School in New
Windsor, New York, is ranked 3rd in his class with a 99.26 GPA; he has
also participated in such sports as baseball and football where he was a
two-time Varsity845 first-team football star, a two-time first-team
football all-state, and Captain; he is planning on majoring in biomedi-
cal engineering with pre-med; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this esteemed young man is a member of the
National Honor Society, the Math Team, and Engineering Encounters
(bridge-building contest); and
WHEREAS, Within his community, Brenden O'Flaherty volunteers his time
and energies as a camp counselor and for youth football, Little League,
Breast Cancer Awareness and High School Video Game Night; and
WHEREAS, Brenden O'Flaherty has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; he has graciously volunteered his
time as a camp counselor; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Brenden
O'Flaherty has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Brenden O'Flaherty may stand with pride in his achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he contin-
ues his education; and
WHEREAS, Brenden O'Flaherty represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of
his future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Brenden O'Flaherty upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Asso-
ciation as a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish him well in his
future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Brenden O'Flaherty.
