LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kaitlin Murphy upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic
Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Kaitlin Murphy
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Kaitlin Murphy has distin-
guished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purpose-
fulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years;
and
WHEREAS, Kaitlin Murphy, a student at Cornwall High School, is ranked
16th in her class with a 97.7 GPA; she has also participated in such
sports as volleyball and track; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this esteemed young woman is a member of
National Honor Society and Safe School Scholars, and serves as Captain
of her school's volleyball team; and
WHEREAS, Kaitlin Murphy has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; she enjoys volunteering as a youth
volleyball coach and at volleyball fundraisers; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Kaitlin Murphy
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Kaitlin Murphy may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education at the University of Hartford to major in Pros-
thetics and Orthotics while competing in Track and Field; and
WHEREAS Kaitlin Murphy represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kaitlin Murphy upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kaitlin Murphy.
