LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Camryn Johnson upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic
Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Camryn Johnson
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Camryn Johnson has distin-
guished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purpose-
fulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years;
and
WHEREAS, Camryn Johnson, a student at Monticello High School in Monti-
cello, New York, ranked 13th in her class with a 94.39 GPA; she partic-
ipated in numerous sports including cross country and both indoor and
outdoor track and field, where she holds the title of Sullivan County
Track Champion; and
WHEREAS, A member of National Honor Society and Student Government,
where she serves as the Class of 2016 Vice President, Camryn Johnson
plans to attend Siena College and major in occupational therapy while
continuing to compete in track events; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Camryn Johnson volunteers her
time and energy working with students at Rutherford Elementary School
and at basketball programs; she also assists with the Thanksgiving food
drive and the toy drive; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Camryn Johnson
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Camryn Johnson may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Camryn Johnson represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Camryn Johnson upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish her well in her future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Camryn Johnson.
