LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Luke Hanson upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic
Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Luke Hanson
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Luke Hanson has distinguished
himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and maturity,
establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purposefulness of
life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Luke Hanson, a student at Minisink Valley High School, is
ranked 5th in his class with a 98.58 GPA; he has also participated in
such sports as football and lacrosse; and
WHEREAS, A member of the National Honor Society (NHS), this esteemed
young man has also been a vital part of such organizations as the Future
Leaders of America and Students Taking Action Together; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Luke Hanson has served as Junior Class Secretary
and Captain of the Minisink Valley Football Team; and
WHEREAS, Luke Hanson has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; he has graciously given of his time as a volun-
teer with youth lacrosse, the Minisink Valley Football Camp, NHS Veter-
ans Dinner, Tricky Tray and senior citizens events; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Luke Hanson is a lector at Holy Name of Jesus
Christ Church; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Luke Hanson has
brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Luke Hanson may stand with pride in his achievements, experi-
encing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he continues
his education at Manhattan College where he will major in Business and
Accounting while competing in lacrosse; and
WHEREAS, Luke Hanson represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of his
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Luke Hanson upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2016 Senior Scholar, and to wish him well in his future endeavors; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Luke Hanson.
