LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 150th Anniversary of Community
Bank, N.A.

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to honor and commem-
orate the proud and distinguished histories of financial institutions
which comprise the noble body of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 150th Anniversary of Community Bank, N.A.; and
WHEREAS, This historic financial institution was founded by S.D.
Hungerford & Co. Bank in 1866, and was later renamed St. Lawrence County
Bank; it all began with only one branch location and a few employees in
Canton, New York; and
WHEREAS, The bank was renamed in the early 1990s, and today Community
Bank, N.A. has a branch network of nearly 200 locations across New York
and northeastern Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Total assets amount to approximately $8.6 billion, ranking
Community Bank, N.A. among the country's 150 largest financial insti-
tutions; and
WHEREAS, Community Bank, N.A. serves the financial needs of those in
smaller and rural communities; part of their mission and philosophy is
to ensure local decision making at each branch, which enables the bank
to compete effectively and efficiently; and
WHEREAS, The Olean and Western New York market group for Community
Bank, N.A. is headquartered in Olean and was formerly The Exchange
National Bank; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize and honor milestones in the history of communities large and small
in this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Community Bank, N.A.; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Community Bank, N.A.
