LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Ethan Wachsman upon the occasion
of capturing a Gold Medal at the Junior International Cup for Karate

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
individuals who strive to be champions through rigorous training, disci-
pline and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of young people in the State of New York, preparing them for the
future by instilling in them the value of hard work, healthy living and
sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor and
recognize Ethan Wachsman for his skill and dedication, which helped him
capture a Gold Medal at the Junior International Cup in the 12-year-old
Advanced Kumite (fighting) Division in Las Vegas, Nevada; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Roslyn, New York, Ethan Wachsman grew to be a
fierce competitor in karate, winning numerous local and state competi-
tions before entering the Junior International Cup, which is his second
consecutive year taking gold at this competition; and
WHEREAS, Along with three other athletes from Tokey Hill Martial Arts
in Port Washington, New York, Ethan Wachsman traveled to Las Vegas,
Nevada, where the tournament attracted an international competition,
drawing 2,870 athletes from over 30 countries; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when athletes
of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention,
they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Ethan Wachsman upon the occasion of capturing a Gold Medal
at the Junior International Cup for Karate; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ethan Wachsman.
