LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Mark
Gruber Gallery
WHEREAS, The arts, in whatever form depicted, are central to human
expression; they are truly a universal language and their contribution
to the development of friendship and understanding among all peoples
cannot be underestimated; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the quality and
character of life in New York State are reflective of the concerned and
dedicated efforts of organizations and individuals whose endeavors
support and enrich the arts in their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 40th Anniversary of the Mark Gruber Gallery; and
WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated with a showcase,
"Looking Back-40 Years, 40 Artists", selecting works by the most influ-
ential artists who have helped to form the objectives, set the tone and
create the spirit for the Gallery over the past four decades; this exhi-
bition opened on Saturday, April 2, 2016, with a wine and cheese recep-
tion, and will run through Saturday, May 21, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Located in New Paltz, New York, the Mark Gruber Gallery has
been exhibiting the Hudson Valley's finest artists since 1976; its care-
fully curated shows bridge the traditional themes of the Hudson River
School with the more fluid contemporary look of today; and
WHEREAS, Featuring original oils, pastels, watercolors and photogra-
phy, the Mark Gruber Gallery contains works by Realists, Impressionists,
Luminists and Plein-Air artists; and
WHEREAS, Hosting seven new exhibitions annually, the Mark Gruber
Gallery is committed to bringing the art seeking public works of quality
and value; in addition, the Gallery offers museum quality custom fram-
ing; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Mark Gruber Gallery is in direct corre-
lation to the efforts of its contributing artists and staff, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of this institution and the Brook-
lyn community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those cultural institutions who enhance the vitality of our artistic
communities and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excel-
lence; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Mark Gruber Gallery; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Mark Gruber Gallery, New Paltz, New York.
