LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Canandaigua Middle School Library
upon the occasion of its designation as the 2016 School Library of the
Year by the Rochester Regional Library Council
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across the great State
of New York is reflective of certain exemplary institutions whose
purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the needs of its citi-
zenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Canandaigua Middle School Library upon the occasion of its desig-
nation as the 2016 School Library of the Year by the Rochester Regional
Library Council, to be celebrated at its Annual Meeting on Thursday,
June 2, 2016, at Casa Larga, Fairport, New York; and
WHEREAS, Rochester Regional Library Council (RRLC) is a multi-type
library network serving libraries and library systems in the five-county
Rochester region of Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Wayne and Wyoming coun-
ties; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the RRLC recognizes outstanding libraries which
have provided exceptional service to their communities; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of Director, Melanie Dyroff,
the Canandaigua Middle School Library is an invaluable resource for
students, teachers and families in the Canandaigua community and is
undoubtedly deserving of this prestigious honor; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Canandaigua Middle School Library is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its staff, whose involvement is,
and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of this institution and the community it serves;
and
WHEREAS, With an atmosphere of caring, the Canandaigua Middle School
Library's exceptional librarians go above and beyond to offer a wide
range of services throughout the day including offering numerous work-
shops and finding current selections for young readers which appeal to a
wide variety of interests; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the Canandaigua Middle School Library offers
programs like March Madness Great Reads, book clubs, and theme weeks to
foster a love of learning while encouraging academic excellence; and
WHEREAS, A true oasis of literature, technology, art, culture, recre-
ation and education, the Canandaigua Middle School Library is an inte-
gral part of the heart of its school community, and remains dedicated to
fulfilling the diverse needs of students and teachers; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an insti-
tution of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our atten-
tion, it should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Canandaigua Middle School Library upon the occasion of its
designation as the 2016 School Library of the Year by the Rochester
Regional Library Council; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Melanie Dyroff, Director of the Canandaigua Middle School
Library.
