LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Harold Kronenberg, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Harold Kronenberg of Woodridge, New York died on Monday,
August 25, 2014, at the age of 83; and
WHEREAS, Affectionately known as Iggy, Harold Kronenberg was co-owner
of the Sullivan County Steam Laundry in Woodridge, and had a long histo-
ry of service in the fire community working his way through the ranks as
a local Firefighter to eventually become Fire Coordinator of Sullivan
County in 1976; and
WHEREAS, Harold Kronenberg's tenure in the Bureau covered the height
of the Catskills resort era, when 350 hotels operated in the county; he
distinguished himself in his profession and by his sincere dedication
and substantial contribution to the welfare of his community; and
WHEREAS, Instrumental in the development of Sullivan County's emergen-
cy dispatch center and the formation of the enhanced 911 system, Harold
Kronenberg was widely liked and universally respected in Sullivan County
and across the State; and
WHEREAS, An even-keeled presence at every emergency scene, Harold
Kronenberg devoted his entire life to the firematics of Sullivan County;
he retired from the esteemed position of Fire Coordinator in 2002, after
26 years of dedicated service; and
WHEREAS, Harold Kronenberg's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including char-
itable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his brother, George, Harold Kronenberg is
survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy; his son, William (Janis); his
daughter, Lisa (Robert); his two cherished granddaughters, Jenna and
Alexis; and his nieces, Sheri, Danielle and Alison; and
WHEREAS, Firefighters such as Harold Kronenberg exemplify the power of
human compassion and the strength of the American spirit through actions
of the most heroic magnitude; his sacrifices and selfless dedication
merit tribute and recognition by all citizens of this great country; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit, imbued with a sense of
compassion, and comforted by a loving family, Harold Kronenberg leaves
behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will
remain as a comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Harold Kronenberg, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Harold Kronenberg.
