LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring John Dulisse upon the occasion of his
induction into the New York State Senate Veterans' Hall of Fame Class of
2016
WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York, who
have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this country's
freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace in peace-
time, deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing tradition, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor John
Dulisse upon the occasion of his induction into the New York State
Senate Veterans' Hall of Fame Class of 2016; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Senate Veterans' Hall of Fame inductees
are members of any branch of the United States Armed Forces which
includes the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, and Marine Corps; these
exceptional men and women are chosen for this prestigious honor based on
either service in combat or notable work performed after discharge from
the service; and
WHEREAS, John Dulisse proudly served his country as a member of the
United States Army from 1970 to 1972, retiring as Specialist 4th Class;
and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Rockland Community College with a degree in
Electronics Technology, John Dulisse served an apprenticeship with IBEW
Local Union 303, before starting his career at Tikvah Electric in Pearl
River, New York; and
WHEREAS, John Dulisse has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless veterans causes and has always given of himself
unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Since 2006, this esteemed veteran has graciously served as
Post Commander of the American Legion Post No. 794 in Nanuet, New York;
he has also served in such vital past roles as Treasurer, Adjutant and
Vice Commander; and
WHEREAS, A long time active member of the Rockland County Veterans
Coordinating Council, John Dulisse has been an integral part of its many
programs and special events, including the Frederick Loescher Veterans
Cemetery Bench program; currently, he serves as Treasurer of the organ-
ization; and
WHEREAS, In addition, John Dulisse has been a dedicated member of the
Vietnam Veterans of America-Chapter 333 of Rockland County since 2007,
where he holds the position of 1st Vice Commander and sits on the Execu-
tive Board of Directors; he also participates in monthly visits to the
Veterans Nursing Home in Montrose, New York, and happily fulfills such
roles, as Chairman of the Annual Pig Roast; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, John Dulisse is a founding member of the Rock-
land Community College Student Veterans Committee where he has taken a
lead role in sharing his experience as an alumnus to aid and mentor
student veterans in their transition to the college environment; and
WHEREAS, A noted guest speaker, John Dulisse has given talks on the
significance of being an American and the importance of serving one's
country at many local organizations throughout the community including
the Boy Scouts, Eagle Scouts, and Civil Air Patrol Cadets; and
WHEREAS, The banner of freedom will always wave over our beloved New
York and all of America, the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave;
and
WHEREAS, The freedoms and security we cherish as Americans comes at a
very high price for those serving in the military in times of conflict;
it is fitting and proper that we who are the beneficiaries of those who
risk their lives, must never forget the courage with which these men and
women served their country; and
WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended and
thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and for
their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor John Dulisse upon the occasion of his induction into the New York
State Senate Veterans' Hall of Fame Class of 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Dulisse.
