LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Monticello High School Varsity Tennis
Coach Urvashi Gupta upon the occasion of being named the Virginia and
Chuck Landis High School Coach of the Year by the U.S. Tennis Associ-
ation Eastern Section
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize those individuals within our midst who have contributed great-
ly to the quality of our lives by providing exceptional leadership and
commitment to our youth; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
notable educators and athletic coaches within our midst who serve the
youth of this great Empire State and who have distinguished themselves
and their schools through their exemplary athletic achievements and
their outstanding commitment to education; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Monticello High School Varsity Tennis Coach Urvashi Gupta upon the occa-
sion of being named the Virginia and Chuck Landis High School Coach of
the Year by the U.S. Tennis Association Eastern Section; and
WHEREAS, Urvashi Gupta is being recognized with this prestigious award
for her steadfast and unwavering service to the district's boys and
girls tennis programs; and
WHEREAS, Affectionately known as Tutu, Urvashi Gupta has been a coach
at Monticello High School for more than 25 years, during which time she
has helped her players improve and worked hard to grow the game; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the efforts of Coach Urvashi Gupta, a skilled and inspirational
tutor, respected for her ability to develop potential into excellence;
and
WHEREAS, Coach Urvashi Gupta, who serves as Section Nine's coordinator
of boys tennis, has had a storied career in the sport; she played
professionally in Asia and Europe, and was ranked fourth in her native
India as well as number one in her state; and
WHEREAS, Internationally certified as a professional to teach and
coach, Urvashi Gupta served as the tennis director at Kutshers for 19
years; and
WHEREAS, Coach Urvashi Gupta's positive attitude, selfless commitment,
goal-oriented and balanced approach to instruction, on top of her genu-
ine concern for her students has contributed to her enduring success as
a coach and mentor at Monticello High School, earning her the just
respect of her community and the State of New York; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Monticello High School Varsity Tennis Coach Urvashi Gupta upon the
occasion of being named the Virginia and Chuck Landis High School Coach
of the Year by the U.S. Tennis Association Eastern Section; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Coach Urvashi Gupta.
