LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ronald W. Bauer upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2016 Golden Apple Award by the Mid-Hud-
son School Study Council

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, It is also the practice of this Legislative Body to take note
of and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and
character whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in this
great State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Ronald W. Bauer upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2016 Golden Apple Award by the Mid-Hudson School Study Council which was
celebrated at its annual meeting on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Mount
St. Mary College in Newburgh, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Mid-Hudson School Study Council's Golden Apple Award
recognizes exceptional educators who have enriched the lives of students
for 50 years or more; and
WHEREAS, Ronald W. Bauer has served as a Social Studies teacher at
Sullivan West High School for the past half-century and is undoubtedly
deserving of this prestigious honor; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed educator graduated high school from the Dela-
ware Valley Central School District High School in 1960, and received
his bachelor's degree from SUNY Cortland in 1966; and
WHEREAS, During his illustrious teaching career, Ronald W. Bauer has
rendered faithful, conscientious and valuable service to Sullivan West
High School, while enriching the lives of students in grades 7-12; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Ronald W. Bauer has dedicated himself to coach-
ing and helping young people as Head Coach of his school's Football
Team, Track Team and Indoor Track Team; he is known for encouraging his
athletes to "Stay Tough, Stay Positive and Stay Enthusiastic"; and
WHEREAS, Educators and coaches like Ronald W. Bauer provide a tremen-
dous service to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring gener-
ations of young people in their educational journeys and ensuring their
success in their future years; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Ronald W. Bauer has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the
respect and admiration of his colleagues, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ronald W. Bauer upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2016 Golden Apple Award by the Mid-Hudson School Study Council;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ronald W. Bauer.
