LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Daria Fatemi upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the
Orange-Ulster BOCES on April 28, 2016
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Daria Fatemi
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES which was celebrated at its
Third Annual Awards Breakfast, on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Kuhl's
Highland House, Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Daria Fatemi has distinguished herself as a young woman of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, A Senior at George F. Baker High School in Tuxedo Park, New
York, Daria Fatemi will be attending Marymount Manhattan in New York
City this fall; she plans to major in Communications and minor in
Musical Theatre; and
WHEREAS, Daria Fatemi is currently a member of the National Honor
Society, and is active in her community; she raised substantial funds
for Covenant House which provides housing for homeless teens; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her high school career Daria Fatemi participated
in JV and Varsity Volleyball, as well as voice ensemble; she was also
very involved in her school's drama club, taking part in several
productions such as "Brigadoon", "Guys and Dolls", "Seussical" and as
Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz"; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Daria Fatemi is also involved in community thea-
ter, the All-County Musical Festival, Area-All State Music Festival,
NYSTEA, Greater Wind Symphony and NYSSMA solos; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Daria Fatemi
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Daria Fatemi may stand with pride in her achievements, expe-
riencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she continues
her education; and
WHEREAS, Daria Fatemi represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Daria Fatemi upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and to
wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Daria Fatemi.
