LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Matthew Willins upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the
Orange-Ulster BOCES on April 28, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Matthew
Willins upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Senior
Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES which was celebrated
at its Third Annual Awards Breakfast, on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at
Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Matthew Willins has distinguished himself as a young man of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, A Senior at George F. Baker High School in Tuxedo Park, New
York, Matthew Willins will be attending Fairfield University in Fair-
field, Connecticut this fall; he will be majoring in Mechanical Engi-
neering and plans to continue on to pursue a graduate degree in Manage-
ment of Technology (MOT); and
WHEREAS, Matthew Willins is currently a member of the National Honor
Society as well as treasurer and soloist of the high school band, a
member of the Select Choir, Voice Ensemble, and a soloist in the All
County Choir; he is also an Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his high school career, Matthew Willins has
performed in five high school productions including, THE WIZARD OF OZ,
THE MUSIC MAN, BRIGADOON, GUYS AND DOLLS, and SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Matthew Willins
has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Matthew Willins may stand with pride in his achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he contin-
ues his education; and
WHEREAS, Matthew Willins represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of his
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Matthew Willins upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and
to wish him well in his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Matthew Willins.
