LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sarah Huff upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the
Orange-Ulster BOCES on April 28, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sarah Huff
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES which was celebrated at its
Third Annual Awards Breakfast, on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Kuhl's
Highland House, Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Sarah Huff has distinguished herself as a young woman of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Sarah Huff, a Senior at Port Jervis High School, Port Jervis,
New York, has plans to study painting and fine arts at a four-year
college after graduation; she then hopes to further her education by
obtaining her master's degree in either teaching or curating and resto-
ration; and
WHEREAS, A talented artist, Sarah Huff was a contestant in the Upfront
Gallery Spring Art Show two years in a row; and
WHEREAS, Committed to her school, Sarah Huff has been involved with
numerous activities such as Senior Spirit Week, the Halloween Haunted
House, and the musical production of "Into the Woods"; in addition, she
studied Cosmetology at Orange-Ulster BOCES; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Sarah Huff has been instrumental
in the success of several senior class projects such as blood drives,
the Christmas parade and the high school circus; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Sarah Huff has
brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Sarah Huff may stand with pride in her achievements, experi-
encing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she continues
her education; and
WHEREAS, Sarah Huff represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sarah Huff upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and to
wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sarah Huff.
