LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Emily Cavanagh upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the
Orange-Ulster BOCES on April 28, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Emily Cavanagh
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES which was celebrated at its
Third Annual Awards Breakfast, on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Kuhl's
Highland House, Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Emily Cavanagh has distinguished herself as a young woman of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Emily Cavanagh will be attending SUNY New Paltz this fall in
New Paltz, New York; she plans on majoring in Art Teacher Education; and
WHEREAS, Currently, she is a student in Warwick Valley's portfolio art
class and a member of the National Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, In the past two years of high school, Emily Cavanagh has
participated in her school's Chair Club, painting and auctioning off two
chairs in her high school career; in addition, she entered a piece in
the National PTA Reflections program, making it to the state level; and
WHEREAS, Recently, Emily Cavanagh contributed to a school mural honor-
ing veterans and those fighting for our country; presently working with
mixed media and acrylic paints, she hopes to continue to develop her
artistic style; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Emily Cavanagh
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Emily Cavanagh may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Emily Cavanagh represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Emily Cavanagh upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and
to wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Emily Cavanagh.
