LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dominique Tirino upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Adult Presidential Gold Service
Award by the Merrick Association of Girl Scouts on June 1, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
the dedicated efforts of those individuals from across the State of New
York who volunteer their time and energies in service to the community;
and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dominique
Tirino upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Adult
Presidential Gold Service Award by the Merrick Association of Girl
Scouts, to be celebrated at an Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, June 1,
2016, at the Merrick Golf Course, Merrick, New York; and
WHEREAS, Dominique Tirino has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, For the past few years, Dominique Tirino has donated over 547
hours of service to Merrick Association of Girl Scouts Troop 2411; as
Leader of the Troop, she has served as the Merrick Association of Girl
Scouts Council delegate, and manager of both Mags & Munchies and the
annual cookie fundraiser; and
WHEREAS, Dominique Tirino also attended Leader, District Council and
Site Based Team meetings, supervised cookie booth sales, and led troop
meetings; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her work with the Girl Scouts, Dominique Tiri-
no has held the position of Vice President of Bellmore-Merrick Council
of PTAs, and Treasurer of Calhoun High School PTSA; in this capacity,
she prepared reports, organized and participated in fundraisers,
attended meetings, corresponded with parents and administrators, and
planned and managed a District-wide Founders' Day Celebration and End of
Year Dinner, as well as acted as a liaison between parents, teachers and
the administration; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman visited senior citizens, assisted with
the North Merrick Civic Association and assembled bags of food to be
distributed at the Mid-Island Collision Thanksgiving Food Drive; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Dominique Tirino has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism is an essential element of all societies; it
provides a way in which the human values of community, caring and serv-
ing can be sustained and strengthened; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism promotes family and community solidarity; most
importantly, people who volunteer their time in civic and charitable
endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of her duties and volunteer
efforts, Dominique Tirino's ongoing endeavors have significantly
contributed to bettering the quality of life in her community; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dominique Tirino upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Adult Presidential Gold Service Award by the Merrick Association
of Girl Scouts on June 1, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dominique Tirino.
