LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Rose Mane Pedretti upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the 2016 Senator John J. Marchi Memorial
Athletic Scholarship by the New York Conference of Italian American
State Legislators

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Rose Mane
Pedretti upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2016
Senator John J. Marchi Memorial Athletic Scholarship by the New York
Conference of Italian American State Legislators; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Rose Mane Pedretti has distin-
guished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purpose-
fulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years;
and
WHEREAS, The daughter of Paul and Cynthia Pedretti, Rose Mane Pedretti
is a senior at Walt Whitman High School in Huntington Station, New York,
where she participated in Varsity Basketball and served as Team Captain
during her junior and senior years; she also played AAU Basketball as a
participant of the Long Island Lightning Travel Team; and
WHEREAS, A member of National Honor Society, English Honor Society and
World Language Honor Society, Rose Mane Pedretti is also a Walt Whitman
SAT/ACT Scholar and an Advanced Placement Scholar with Honors; she plans
to attend Nazareth College, Rochester, New York, in the Fall; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Rose Mane Pedretti enjoys volun-
teering her time and energy as a Vacation Bible Camp Counselor at Saint
Peter's Church, and as member of the Walt Whitman Wildcat Booster Club;
and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Rose Mane
Pedretti has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Rose Mane Pedretti may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Rose Mane Pedretti represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of
her future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Rose Mane Pedretti upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the 2016 Senator John J. Marchi Memorial Athletic Scholarship by
the New York Conference of Italian American State Legislators, and to
wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rose Mane Pedretti.
