LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ariyanna Chillis upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Special Recognition Award by the
Flora E. Kippins Foundation, Inc. on October 22, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Ariyanna Chillis upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Special Recognition Award by the Flora E. Kippins Foundation, Inc.
to be celebrated at its Third Annual Gala on Saturday, October 22, 2016,
at the Colonie Golf and Country Club, Voorheesville, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Flora E. Kippins Foundation, Inc. strives to provide
resources and services to support and strengthen the development of
children and families on the African continent and globally who are risk
of the devastating effects of poverty, as well as HIV/AIDS and other
opportunistic viruses; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception in 2011, the Flora E. Kippins Foundation
has greatly benefitted not only the residents of the Capital Region of
New York, but also those of Guyana, South America and Ghana, Africa by
offering food, gifts, and medical supplies, hosting parties and holiday
events, and providing educational opportunities; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award will be bestowed upon Ariyanna Chillis
for her continued active presence in her community, and her demonstrated
commitment to education, as well as her outstanding support of the
mission of the Flora E. Kippins Foundation; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Colonie Central High School, Ariyanna Chillis is
a vital member of the National Honor Society; an exceptional student,
she was the recipient of the University at Albany Multicultural High
School Achievers Award, was named a Raider Scholar, and won the New York
State Elks Oratorical Contest; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community in which she lives, Ariyanna Chil-
lis has graciously given of her time and energy to tutor and mentor
younger students, and has been instrumental in organizing numerous
activities for them; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ariyanna Chillis upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Special Recognition Award by the Flora E. Kippins Foundation,
Inc.; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ariyanna Chillis.
