LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ira and Toby Kase upon the occasion of
their designation for special recognition by Congregation Beth Tikvah on
June 5, 2016

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Ira and Toby Kase have given not only of their time and ener-
gies but also of their competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently have been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Toby and Ira
Kase upon the occasion of their designation for special recognition by
Congregation Beth Tikvah, to be celebrated at its Annual Journal Dinner
on Sunday, June 5, 2016, in Wantagh, New York; and
WHEREAS, Ira and Toby Kase have been called upon to contribute their
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and have
always given of themselves unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Ira and Toby Kase moved to Farmingdale, New York in June of
1975, during which time they joined Congregation Beth Tikvah and
enrolled their children in its religious school; this was the beginning
of a beautiful relationship which has spanned more than four decades;
and
WHEREAS, In the late 1970s, Toby Kase assumed the position of Sister-
hood Treasurer, the esteemed position she held for several years; in
addition, she served as Donor Chair, Fashion Show coordinator and was
actively involved in several other fundraising events; and
WHEREAS, After serving as treasurer of the synagogue in the early
1990s, Toby Kase remained involved with several sisterhood projects;
upon retiring in 2005, she became the Financial Secretary of the congre-
gation and was a member of the Consolidation Committee; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to the synagogue, Toby Kase served in such
capacities as, Catering Committee involved in Shabbat Dinners, Long Term
Planning, Chavurah, Coordinating Secretary, Administrative Vice Presi-
dent and as President of Congregation Beth Tikvah; and
WHEREAS, Actively involved in Congregation Beth Tikvah, Ira Kase has
been a member of the Board of Trustees and researched government grants
for synagogue security; he has also been involved with Shabbat dinners,
and maintained the CBT website and phone tree; and
WHEREAS, Today, Ira Kase serves as the Men's Club Co-Membership Vice
President, and is a member of the Long Term Planning Committee; he also
maintains the income record keeping as a member of the Journal Committee
and is a member of the wait staff for the Sisterhood show, along with
the former Catskill Crew; and
WHEREAS, Married for 50 years, Ira and Toby Kase are the proud parents
of two children, Jodi (Michael) and Jeffrey (AnnMarie), and have five
beautiful grandchildren, Gabrielle, Gregory, Jenna, Garrett and Sarah
Mae; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Toby and Ira Kase have stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Ira and Toby Kase have displayed
throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ira and Toby Kase upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition by Congregation Beth Tikvah on June 5, 2016; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ira and Toby Kase.
