LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring outgoing Trustee Neil Brown for special
recognition after many years of distinguished service to the North
Merrick School District Board of Education
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Neil Brown has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor outgoing Trus-
tee Neil Brown for special recognition after many years of distinguished
service to the North Merrick School District Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, Neil Brown has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A 24-year resident of North Merrick, Neil Brown has been an
active volunteer in Merrick's youth sports organizations including
Merrick PAL and Cure of Ars CYO; he is also the President of the Calhoun
High School Sports Boosters; and
WHEREAS, Neil Brown has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engi-
neering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is employed as a Plant
Manager at Sciarra Laboratories in Hicksville; he has been with the
company for over five years, and prior to his current position, was
employed by Dow Chemical Company for more than two decades; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, Neil Brown has served on the policy
board of the North Merrick Teachers' Center, and has been instrumental
in its growth into a valuable asset to the teachers and students of the
district; he has also served as a member of North Merrick School
District's lay budget committee, and as both President and Vice Presi-
dent of the North Merrick Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Karen, and their two
children, Kurt and Dana, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his
life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Neil Brown has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Neil Brown has displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor outgoing Trustee Neil Brown for special recognition after many
years of distinguished service to the North Merrick School District
Board of Education; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to outgoing Trustee Neil Brown.
