LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Judi Steckler upon the occasion of
her designation as Woman of the Year by the Merrick-Bellmore Dayan Lilah
Group of Hadassah on June 6, 2016

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Judi Steckler has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Judi Steck-
ler upon the occasion of her designation as Woman of the Year by the
Merrick-Bellmore Dayan Lilah Group of Hadassah, which was celebrated at
a Special Dinner held in her honor on Monday, June 6, 2016, at Rialto
Restaurant, Carle Place, New York; and
WHEREAS, Hadassah is the largest Jewish women's organization in the
United States; 330,000 members, associates and supporters across the
country come together to effect change and advocate on critical issues
such as medical care and research, women's empowerment, and the security
of Israel; and
WHEREAS, Through the Hadassah Medical Organization's (HMO) two hospi-
tals, a world-renowned trauma center and the leading research facility
in Jerusalem, Hadassah provides exemplary patient care to over a million
people each year; and
WHEREAS, HMO serves its patients without regard to race, religion or
nationality and consequently, earned a 2005 Nobel Peace Prize Nomination
for building "bridges to peace" through equality in medical treatment;
and
WHEREAS, Dayan Lilah is the young leaders group within the Merrick-
Bellmore Pnina Chapter, comprised of dynamic women, ranging in age from
their early 30s to late 40s; the Chapter offers a variety of events
including bingo/boutiques, Chinese auctions, mah jong nights, Kaballah
programs, fitness events, sports nights, kid's mini-golf and ice cream
parties, book discussions and dinners; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Massapequa, New York, Judi Steckler has been an
active member of Dayan Lilah for over 20 years; and
WHEREAS, Judi Steckler has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Since 1995, Judi Steckler has held numerous leadership posi-
tions in both the Massapequa and Merrick-Bellmore organizations includ-
ing immediate past co-President, Chair of the Cards and Certificates
program, Vice President of Fundraising, Executive Vice President, and
Bulletin Editor; throughout her tenure, she has created events flyers
and chaired many events; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Judi Steckler has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her volunteer work with Hadassah, Judi Steck-
ler works full-time as Manager of Patient Access at Winthrop University
Hospital; she also holds the position of Secretary of the Hospital
Admitting Officers Association of New York, and serves on the Education,
Conference and Newsletter Committees; and
WHEREAS, Recently, Judi Steckler earned her Associate's degree and is
currently continuing her education toward a Bachelor's degree in Health-
care Administration; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, and their two
daughters, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Judi Steckler has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Judi Steckler upon the occasion of her designation as Woman of
the Year by the Merrick-Bellmore Dayan Lilah Group of Hadassah; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Judi Steckler.
