LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Mount Sinai Civic Association upon
the occasion of celebrating its 100th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Mount Sinai Civic Association upon the occasion of celebrating its
100th Anniversary on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at the Willow Creek Golf
and Country Club; and
WHEREAS, The Mount Sinai Civic Association has played a vital role in
the community since its inception in 1916; the organization is involved
in zoning issues, land preservation, traffic calming, safety issues and
educating its residents on political, educational and social activities;
and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, the Mount Sinai Civic Associ-
ation promotes, protects, encourages, and advances interests, activ-
ities, and projects, improving the local community for its residents;
and
WHEREAS, The Mount Sinai Civic Association also works with elected
officials to promote its objectives, secure funding for various communi-
ty based projects, and monitor the actions of such local political units
such as the school, fire and ambulance districts; and
WHEREAS, One of the oldest continuously active Civic Associations in
the State of New York, the Mount Sinai Civic Association has been
instrumental in numerous successful initiatives including the preserva-
tion of the Chandler Estate, the planting of more than 350 trees along
Route 25A, and the creation of the Mount Sinai Heritage Trust Park; the
organization has also assumed a leadership role in many other local
zoning and quality of life issues within the local community; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 100 year history, the Mount Sinai
Civic Association has demonstrated continuous service to the residents
and communities which it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Mount Sinai Civic Association is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its members, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeav-
ors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Mount Sinai Civic
Association; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Mount Sinai Civic Association upon the occasion of celebrat-
ing its 100th Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Mount Sinai Civic Association.
