LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Rena Nowacoski upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the Amityville Rotary Club on
June 9, 2016

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Rena Nowacoski has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Rena Nowaco-
ski upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Amityville Rotary Club, to be celebrated at its Annual Gift of Life Gala
on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Chateau La Mer, Lindenhurst, New York; and
WHEREAS, Born in Brooklyn, New York, Rena Nowacoski and her family
moved to Massapequa Park, New York, when it was still largely farmland
and there was an airport down the street; after high school, she
attended Hartwick College; and
WHEREAS, After graduation, Rena Nowacoski began her illustrious career
as a Computer Programmer with RCA Global Communications; in 1969, she
married her husband, Ronald, and they moved back to Long Island; and
WHEREAS, As a stay-at-home mom, Rena Nowacoski furthered her education
by taking Paralegal Studies courses at Adelphi University and Commerical
Art classes at SUNY Farmingdale; in 2000, she earned her degree in Medi-
eval History from Lincoln Center at Fordham University; and
WHEREAS, As her children got older, Rena Nowacoski was able to balance
her career and family while working as a paralegal at various law
offices; in addition, she held the position of District Clerk for the
Amityville School District and served as Secretary for the Amityville
Teachers' Association, as well as provided executive support to Beninca-
sa Family Services for the Sisters of St. Dominic; and
WHEREAS, Rena Nowacoski has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; she has held various leadership positions
at several worthy organizations including Troop Leader for both Girl and
Boy Scout Troops, President of the Parents' Association, Secretary of
the Amityville Historical Society and Secretary of the Amityville Rotary
Club; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Rena Nowacoski has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, When she is not working, Rena Nowacoski enjoys needle arts
and fiber crafts; from embroidery and sewing, to quilting and smocking,
to tatting and lacemaking, and all forms of crocheting and knitting, she
is rarely without a needle in her hand and a project or three in her
bag; devoted to her hobby, she has held many elected roles in multiple
needlework guilds; and
WHEREAS, Along with her needlework skills, Rena Nowacoski is a
talented artist and owns a china painting shop; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Rena Nowacoski has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Rena Nowacoski upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Amityville Rotary Club on June 9, 2016; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rena Nowacoski.
