LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Dorothy Yu upon the occasion of
being named a Commended Student in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship
Program

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Dorothy
Yu, a senior at Sewanhaka High School, upon the occasion of being named
a Commended Student in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program; and
WHEREAS, The National Merit Scholarship Program, one of the most pres-
tigious academic recognition programs in the Nation, was established in
1955, and recognizes through rigorous competitive examinations, those
students across the country who demonstrate exceptional academic abili-
ty; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy Yu is being recognized as a Commended Student for her
extraordinary academic promise, and for ranking amongst the top one
third of the students who entered the esteemed competition; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Dorothy Yu has
brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy Yu may stand with pride in her achievements, experi-
encing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accomplishment,
eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she continues her
education; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Dorothy Yu upon the occasion of being named a Commended
Student in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program, and to extend to
her best wishes for a future of purposeful success and well-being; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dorothy Yu.
