LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Rome
Art and Community Center

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary organizations and individuals it wishes to recognize for
their valued contributions to the success and progress of society and
publicly acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic
humanity among us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the 50th
Anniversary of the Rome Art and Community Center; and
WHEREAS, Rome Art and Community Center (RACC), Rome's only multi-arts
facility, serves greater Rome and Oneida County, offering both cultural
and community programming at little or no cost to the public; RACC
welcomes nearly 5,000 visitors annually from all over the United States;
and
WHEREAS, RACC is committed to making programming accessible to all-re-
gardless of age, race, economic status, or physical ability; embracing
community impact, true to its mission, RACC plays an important role in
fostering creativity, cultural awareness, and a strong community
connection through a broad range of programming and services; and
WHEREAS, This vital organization offers unique opportunities to expe-
rience the arts on a very personal level, whether it be through hands-on
instruction, a quiet walk through serene gallery space, or even as a
part of a large community event; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to the Rome Community since 1967, RACC has been
impacting the lives of children, teens, and adults every year since its
inception; and
WHEREAS, Looking ahead to a bright future of bringing innovative
programs, classes and concepts to the greater Rome area, RACC is truly
committed to being a leader in creative children's education and in
making the Arts available and accessible to all; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 50 year history, the Rome Art and
Community Center has demonstrated continuous service to the residents
and communities which it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of RACC is in direct correlation to the efforts
of its staff and volunteers, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and
an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the organization and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Rome Art and Commu-
nity Center; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Rome Art and Community Center;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Rome Art and Community Center.
