LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Andrew Greiche and Rachel Kim upon the
occasion of their designation for special recognition as Scholar Artists
by the Long Island Arts Alliance

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Andrew Greiche and Rachel Kim upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition as Scholar Artists by the Long Island Arts Alliance;
and
WHEREAS, Andrew Greiche and Rachel Kim, of Herricks High School, have
been recognized for outstanding achievement in the Long Island Arts
Alliance's annual competition, and were among 40 Long Island students
selected in 2014; and
WHEREAS, These talented young scholars are being honored for their
achievements in the categories of theater arts and music, as well as for
their sparkling academic records; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Greiche has performed in several plays, and starred in
the lead role in his school's production of "The Music Man"; in addi-
tion, he is a member of the Herricks High School Chamber Choir; and
WHEREAS, Rachel Kim is an accomplished cellist who plays in the
Herricks High School Chamber Orchestra, and is also a member of the
Herricks High School Chamber Choir; and
WHEREAS, Educational competitions which serve to better prepare our
students for their future participation in the marketplace of ideas are
worthy of praise and support; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, these
scholars now stand honorably, with just pride in their accomplishments
and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appre-
ciating the caring counsel and support provided by their teachers,
coaches and parents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Andrew Greiche and Rachel Kim upon the occasion of their desig-
nation for special recognition as Scholar Artists by the Long Island
Arts Alliance; and
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Andrew Greiche and Rachel Kim.
