LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the 2014-2015 Nassau Regional
Finalists of the New York State PTA Reflections Program from Floral Park
Memorial High School in Floral Park, New York

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those talented young people who have inspired and brought
pride to our majestic Empire State by achieving outstanding success in
artistic competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the 2014-2015 Nassau Regional Finalists of the New York State PTA
Reflections Program from Floral Park Memorial High School, to be cele-
brated at a PTA Reception on Thursday, April 23, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The New York State PTA Reflections Art Program encourages
students to create works of art for fun and positive recognition; and
WHEREAS, The New York State PTA Reflections Program asks children to
express themselves artistically based on a common theme; the theme for
this year's program was "The World Would Be A Better Place If..."; and
WHEREAS, Participants in the New York State PTA Reflections Art
Program submit their original works of art in dance choreography, film
production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts;
and
WHEREAS, The outstanding works were judged at the local level and the
winning entries advanced to compete at the Nassau Regional Level; and
WHEREAS, This year, five students from Floral Park Memorial High
School have been named Nassau Regional Finalists, they are: Denise
Cabuenas (visual arts), Kellie Courtney (literature), Joseph Leone (film
production), Isabella Ramirez (dance choreography), and Philip Stern
(music competition); and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
people of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the 2014-2015 Nassau Regional Finalists of the New York
State PTA Reflections Program from Floral Park Memorial High School in
Floral Park, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Floral Park Memorial High School, and the aforementioned
finalists.
