LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Alexander MacKinnon upon the occasion of
his retirement from the St. Lawrence County legislature

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Alexander
MacKinnon upon his retirement as a member of the St. Lawrence County
legislature; and
WHEREAS, As a member of the St. Lawrence County legislature, Alexander
MacKinnon served as Finance Chair, Vice Chair and Chair, and helped
oversee its budget; and
WHEREAS, Alexander MacKinnon moved to St. Lawrence County in 1972, to
launch a career in dairy farming which spanned 34 years; and
WHEREAS, He began his career in public service with his election to
the Gouverneur School Board, and in 1993, was elected to the St.
Lawrence County legislature, where he served for 21 years; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career in public service, Alexander MacKinnon
has been a strong and effective advocate for rural areas, serving as the
county legislature's representative to the Farmland Protection Board and
the Recreational Trails Advisory Board; and
WHEREAS, An individual who has truly gone above and beyond to excel in
his career and give back to the local community, Alexander MacKinnon has
made a difference with his dedication to public service; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Alexander MacKinnon upon the occasion of his retirement from the
St. Lawrence County legislature; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Alexander MacKinnon.
