LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Grand
Island Women's Golf Association

WHEREAS, Athletic organizations which benefit the health and well-being
of the people of this Empire State merit the commendation of this Legis-
lative Body; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the 50th
Anniversary of the Grand Island Women's Golf Association; and
WHEREAS, The Grand Island Women's Golf Association has served the
interests of the people of the Empire State by providing recreational
opportunity for golf enthusiasts for 50 years; and
WHEREAS, The 9- and 18-hole league was established in 1965; today,
golfers tee off at a championship course located in Beaver Island State
Park on Grand Island on the Niagara River, between metropolitan Buffalo
and the city of Niagara Falls; and
WHEREAS, Members of the Grand Island Women's Golf Association play
Tuesday mornings, May through September; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Grand Island Women's Golf Asso-
ciation; and
WHEREAS, Community athletic groups such as the Grand Island Women's
Golf Association help to provide a strong and stable environment for the
residents of Grand Island, as well as an opportunity for the community
to bond through the recreation of sports competition; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Grand Island Women's Golf Asso-
ciation; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to President Maureen Steck, Grand Island Women's Golf Associ-
ation.
