LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Oneonta Family YMCA upon the occasion of
its designation as recipient of the 2016 Quality of Life Award by the
Otsego County Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who devote themselves to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Oneonta Family YMCA upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the 2016 Quality of Life Award by the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce,
to be celebrated at its 30th Annual Spring Dinner themed "Otsego County
The Pearl of New York State" on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at The Hunt
Union Ballroom, SUNY Oneonta, Oneonta, New York; and
WHEREAS, Since 1986, the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce has served
the businesses and communities of Otsego County with programs and
services designed to foster strong economic growth and make the county a
great place to live and work; and
WHEREAS, The Chamber's accomplishments were recognized by The Business
Council of New York State with the designation of 2013 Chamber of the
Year; and
WHEREAS, In 2016, the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce celebrates its
30th business anniversary, which is represented by the symbol of the
pearl; during this milestone year, this worthy institute will showcase
through various events and activities its strength and resilience as an
organization and its confidence as it looks ahead to the future; and
WHEREAS, Oneonta Family YMCA is receiving this auspicious award in
recognition of the valuable programs and numerous services it has been
providing the residents of its community since 1883; and
WHEREAS, Oneonta Family YMCA is under the able leadership of Executive
Director Frank Russo; he truly believes the Y is not just a building; it
is a cause-driven organization built by the people, the staff, the
community, the donors, the sponsors, the foundations and the volunteers;
and
WHEREAS, This vital institution is dedicated to building strong kids,
strong families, and strong communities; and
WHEREAS, Oneonta Family YMCA serves people of all ages, incomes and
abilities through a wide variety of programs and services designed to
meet the changing needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Oneonta Family YMCA upon the occasion of its designation as recip-
ient of the 2016 Quality of Life Award by the Otsego County Chamber of
Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Executive Director Frank Russo, Oneonta Family YMCA.
