LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Rabbi Steven and Dr. Linda Graber for
13 years of spiritual and community leadership to the congregants of
Temple Hillel

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State are nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Rabbi Steven
and Dr. Linda Graber for 13 years of spiritual and community leadership
to the congregants of Temple Hillel to be recognized at its 61st Anni-
versary Celebration on Sunday, April 10, 2016; they have served the
congregation and the community with dedication, innovation, and concern
for others; and
WHEREAS, Rabbi Steven Graber received his Bachelor of Arts degree in
Judaic Studies and Secondary Education from Rutgers University; he
continued his studies both in Israel and at the Jewish Theological Semi-
nary of America in New York, and received his Master's degree in Hebrew
Letters as well as Rabbinical Ordination in 1987; and
WHEREAS, Before coming to Temple Hillel, Rabbi Steven Graber served
both the Electchester Jewish Center and then the Whitestone Hebrew
Centre; and
WHEREAS, In addition to congregational responsibilities at the White-
stone Hebrew Centre, Rabbi Steven Graber was an instructor of Talmud and
Jewish Law at the Solomon Schecter School of Queens, and President of
the Rabbinical Assembly's Queens Region; and
WHEREAS, Working with the Temple Hillel family, Rabbi Steven Graber
helped strengthen relationships within this multigenerational, vibrant
congregation; developed an award winning educational program; encouraged
the congregation in enhancing their spiritual, cultural, and social
needs; and has enabled the synagogue to become a second home for people
of all ages; and
WHEREAS, Rabbi Steven Graber has been supported in his work by his
wife, Dr. Linda Friedman Graber, who is an Associate Professor of
Neuroscience at New York Institute of Technology; and
WHEREAS, Together, they are the proud parents of three children,
Daniel, Jennifer and Leora, and the loving grandparents of one grandson,
who was born in Israel in November of 2015; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention
it is appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend them
for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Rabbi Steven and Dr. Linda Graber for 13 years of spiritual and
community leadership to the congregants of Temple Hillel; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rabbi Steven and Dr. Linda Graber.
