LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Melina Carnicelli upon the occasion of
her designation as a 2016 Inductee into the Auburn Alumni Hall of
Distinction, on May 6, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Melina Carnicelli upon the occasion of her designation as a 2016 Induc-
tee into the Auburn Alumni Hall of Distinction, to be celebrated at an
Induction Ceremony on Friday, May 6, 2016, at the Hilton Garden Inn,
Auburn, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Auburn Alumni Hall of Distinction was established in
2012, by the Auburn Education Foundation to recognize, honor and cele-
brate graduates who have distinguished themselves through outstanding
academic, professional, or civic achievements and to inspire current
students to pursue a path towards personal success; and
WHEREAS, A woman of singular merit, Melina Carnicelli, West High
School Class of 1966, has continually demonstrated tremendous compe-
tence, extraordinary intelligence and diligent leadership in her unwav-
ering service to both her community and her profession and consequently
has been selected for this most prestigious honor; and
WHEREAS, Melina Carnicelli was born and raised in Auburn, New York,
and graduated from West High School; after graduating, she earned her
degrees in Education and School District Administration from the State
University of New York system, and began her distinguished career in
education at Casey Park Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, In 1990, Melina Carnicelli followed her entrepreneurial dream
and founded Treble Associates, a workplace consulting firm which
specialized in leadership and organizational development; in addition,
she and her business partner created Room Full of Sisters, an enterpris-
ing event of Treble Associates which convened annually for 20 years to
celebrate women and girls; and
WHEREAS, Melina Carnicelli then began a career in politics when she
was elected to the Auburn City Council; in 1999, she became the first
and only woman throughout Auburn's history to be nominated and elected
to the office of Mayor; during her tenure, she was well-known for her
positive efforts on behalf of the city in which she lived and worked;
and
WHEREAS, After she retired, Melina Carnicelli created a new enter-
prise, Metatron Travel; in this capacity, she organizes and leads inti-
mate travel groups to sacred sites and energy vortexes around the world;
and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Melina Carnicelli was instru-
mental in creating TomatoFest of CNY, the Harriet Tubman Freedom Park,
and Leadership Cayuga County; she was also a member of the Board of
Trustees of Auburn Memorial Hospital, the Jenna foundation for Non-Vio-
lence in Syracuse and the Auburn Education Foundation; and
WHEREAS, In 2012, this remarkable woman was appointed to the Board of
Trustees of Cayuga Community College by New York Governor, Andrew M.
Cuomo; and
WHEREAS, For her incredible and selfless dedication to the well-being
of her community, Melina Carnicelli has been the recipient of numerous
awards and accolades including the Central New York NOW Chapter Unsung

Heroine Award, and the Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes Sharing
the Light Award for her local social justice work; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Melina Carnicelli was named a Woman of
Distinction by the New York State Senate and was also the first recipi-
ent of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Drum Major Award for founding the
Mayor's Social Justice Task Force in Auburn; and
WHEREAS, When she is not working, Melina Carnicelli enjoys spending
time with her precious grandchildren, traveling and exploring new desti-
nations, preparing mouth-watering hors d'oeuvres, playing tennis and
celebrating life with family and friends; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband of 46 years,
Matthew, her two children and her grandchildren, all of whom feel privi-
leged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Melina Carnicelli upon the occasion of her designation as a 2016
Inductee into the Auburn Alumni Hall of Distinction, on May 6, 2016; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Melina Carnicelli.
