LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Sunnyside Farms, Inc. upon the
occasion of its designation as a recipient of the Farm Safety Award from
the New York State Agricultural Society

WHEREAS, The agricultural industry is part of the foundation upon which
our distinct American heritage is built; New York State and the entire
United States are dependent on our agricultural industry for a variety
of food products; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those family-owned farms which substantially contribute
to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire Empire
State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Sunnyside Farms, Inc. upon the occasion of its designation as a
recipient of the Farm Safety Award from the New York State Agricultural
Society; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Agricultural Society's Farm Safety Award
recognizes farm operators who strive to provide innovative and success-
ful workplace safety programs for their employees; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1939, Sunnyside Farms, Inc. is a large dairy
farm owned and operated by Greg and Neil Rejman located on Indian Field
Road, Scipio Center, New York, in Cayuga County; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Sunnyside Farms, Inc. has expanded progres-
sively from a herd of 200 to its current herd of approximately 4,000
milk cows while building a reputation for cleanliness and orderliness
across the entire farmstead; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to providing a safe and healthy work environment,
the management of Sunnyside Farms, Inc. has worked with NYCAMH for years
to improve their safety programs and worker training; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed small business also provides regular bilingual
instruction and mentoring of employees and keeps its facilities and
equipment well maintained to avoid hazards; first aid and CPR training
are also provided to all supervisors and employees interested in learn-
ing how to be prepared for an emergency; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Sunnyside Farms, Inc. retains well-organized
training records and is conscientious about scheduling additional train-
ing sessions when needed to ensure employees' well-being and job read-
iness; and
WHEREAS, The Rejman family has been called upon to contribute its time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and have always
given of themselves unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, An integral part of their community, the Rejman's have been a
proud supporter of Southern Cayuga County's Annual Farmer's Challenge, a
fund raising event hosted by Sunnyside Farms, featuring a dinner, silent
auction, and trivia contest to benefit the Southern Cayuga Central
School's Agriculture and FFA programs; and
WHEREAS, Under the able guidance of Owners Greg and Neil Rejman,
Sunnyside Farms, Inc. will continue to meet the highest standards of
safety and quality, while continuing to provide outstanding service to
its community for many years to come; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges the success of this exceptional small business and its contrib-
utions to the local and State economies, fully confident that it will
continue to enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far;
and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when family-
owned farms of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Sunnyside Farms, Inc. upon the occasion of its designation
as recipient of the Farm Safety Award from the New York State Agricul-
tural Society; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Greg and Neil Rejman, Co-Owners, Sunnyside Farms, Inc.
