LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Charles R. Bendit for his many years of
distinguished service to the New York State Board of Regents

WHEREAS, It is the practice of the State of New York to recognize those
skilled and dedicated individuals within our midst whose notable profes-
sional and personal accomplishments merit the recognition of their local
communities and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Charles R. Bendit for his many years of distinguished service to the New
York State Board of Regents; he officially stepped down from this
esteemed position and left the Board of Regents on February 24, 2016;
and
WHEREAS, Charles R. Bendit earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Busi-
ness Administration from George Washington University; and
WHEREAS, Charles R. Bendit was first elected to the New York State
Board of Regents in 2007, serving as a Regent from Judicial District 1;
since then, he was actively involved in the educational community serv-
ing as not only a Regent but also a board member of PENCIL, and a
participant in PENCIL's annual Principal for a Day program; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Charles R. Bendit is a member of the Board of
Governors of the Real Estate Board of New York, the Executive Committee
of the Board of Advisors of the George Washington University School of
Business, and the Advisory Board of the University's Center for Real
Estate and Urban Analysis; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Charles R. Bendit is the co-Founder/co-Chief Exec-
utive Officer of Taconic Investment Partners LLC; before founding Tacon-
ic, he was President and sole owner of CBC Properties, the company he
founded in 1993; in this capacity, he acquired, repositioned, and
managed more than one million square feet of office property in New York
City and Washington, D.C., as well as several hundred apartment units in
the metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, Prior to forming his own company, Charles R. Bendit was a
Managing Director at Jones Lang Wootton (JLW) where he served as Presi-
dent for property acquisitions, sales and financing for the firm's
international clientele, with a focus on New York, Washington, D.C. and
Toronto; in these latter two cities, he established JLW's regional
offices and business platforms; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Charles R. Bendit for his many years of distinguished service to
the New York State Board of Regents, and to wish him well in all his
future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Charles R. Bendit.
