LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Ossining High School Girls
Basketball Team and Coach Dan Ricci upon the occasion of capturing the
New York State Class AA Federation Championship

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Historic in magnitude, on Saturday, March 19, 2016, the
Ossining High School Girls Varsity Basketball Team won their first ever
New York State Federation Title when they defeated Long Island Lutheran
at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York, with a final score of
64-54; and
WHEREAS, Team Pride's quest to the Federation Tournament of Champions
became clearer when they defeated North Rockland on February 28th,
77-60, to claim their 6th straight Sectional Championship, followed by a
59-44 victory on March 4th over Monroe-Woodbury for their 5th consec-
utive Regional Title, and where they sealed the deal on March 12, 2016,
when they came from behind to win their fourth consecutive New York
State Public High School Athletic Association Class AA State Champion-
ship with a 69-44 victory over Shenendehowa; and
WHEREAS, Decorated in maroon and white, family, friends, and the
community at large loyally and enthusiastically supported the Pride
throughout this journey as they ended their season with an impressive
28-2 overall record; and
WHEREAS, Coach Dan Ricci and the outstanding athletes on the Ossining
High School Girls Basketball Team have clearly utilized dedication,
determination and teamwork in providing a lasting contribution to the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their school; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Ossining High School Girls Basketball Team, its
members: Alyssa Aurora, Team Captain Alexis Bernardo, Samantha Cozzoli-
no, Team Captain Gabby Ferrao, Aubrey Griffin, Kailah Harris, Helen
Ishmael, Cassidy Martinez, Adriana McFadden, Kelsey Quain, Team Captain
Shadeen Samuels, Jaida Strippoli, Angela Torricella, and Zaira Turner,
along with Head Coach Dan Ricci and Assistant Coaches Pat Wheeler, Jose
Ferrao, Kelsey Vallach, as well as their team Trainer Luis Iglesias, and
Team Managers Ally Forman and Nick Ferrao on their outstanding season
and overall team record; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Ossining High School Girls Basketball Team and the afore-
mentioned coaches.
