LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Department of Environmental Conserva-
tion Officer David Nally upon the occasion of being named 2015 Environ-
mental Officer of the Year by the Pine Barrens Law Enforcement Council

WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of community life are cherished values
worthy of safeguarding, and this Legislative Body is moved to honor
those exemplary public servants who devote their lives to preserving and
protecting such values; and
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Department
of Environmental Conservation Officer David Nally upon the occasion of
being named 2015 Environmental Officer of the Year by the Pine Barrens
Law Enforcement Council; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1994, the Pine Barrens Law Enforcement Council
represents a coalition of 26 law enforcement groups working to coordi-
nate stewardship of the Long Island Central Pine Barrens; currently, the
organization is responsible for the protection of approximately five
million acres of public lands; and
WHEREAS, Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Officer David
Nally of Riverhead, New York, is being recognized for his tireless
efforts in protecting this environmentally sensitive area from illegal
use by drivers of all-terrain vehicles (ATV); and
WHEREAS, David Nally graduated from the DEC Law Enforcement Training
Academy in 2013, and has served as part of his agency's Division of
Forest Protection patrolling for illegal ATV use, dumping and hunting;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, Officer David Nally has ably carried out such
vital duties as fighting wildfires, containing pine beetle infestations,
and responding to damaging storms on Long Island; and
WHEREAS, Through his distinguished service, Officer David Nally demon-
strated his concern for the environment and the welfare of others,
personifying the collective concern of public servants across the commu-
nity of the State of New York who respond when others are in need of
help; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Department of Environmental Conservation Officer David Nally upon
the occasion of being named 2015 Environmental Officer of the Year by
the Pine Barrens Law Enforcement Council; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Department of Environmental Conservation Officer David Nally.
