LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Mamaroneck High School Boys
Varsity Hockey Team, Coach Michael Chiapparelli, Assistant Coaches Artie
Bruno, Athletic Trainer Shannon Lalli and Athletic Director Bari Suman
on the occasion of capturing the New York State Division One Ice Hockey
Championship
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and a well-executed winning strategy; and
WHEREAS, The storied history of Mamaroneck High School Tiger Ice Hock-
ey includes decades of gritty competitors, outstanding skaters and
legendary leadership with a lineage of impressive success; and
WHEREAS, The 2015-16 Mamaroneck High School Tiger Ice Hockey Team have
matched and enhanced this epic tale of hockey prowess with their state-
wide success this year; and
WHEREAS, The Mamaroneck and Larchmont communities place great value in
sports, scholastic athletics, achievement and especially ice hockey, and
have long been filled with Tiger Pride; and
WHEREAS, Generations of Mamaroneck athletes have skated the ice
surfaces of the region setting a high standard of hockey excellence
through speed, puck control, shooting ability and defense; and
WHEREAS, The 2016 Mamaroneck High School Tigers have taken this legacy
to a new level of ice hockey achievement by capturing the New York State
Division One Ice Hockey title, defeating West Genesee in a 1-0 shutout
in the NYSPHSAA Boys Ice Hockey Finals at the Harbor Center in Buffalo,
New York, on March 13, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Prior to clinching the State Championship, the team secured
the Section One Title by defeating the Suffern Mounties by a score of 5
-1 at the Brewster Ice Arena on February 28, 2016; and
WHEREAS, The team, finishing the season with an outstanding 24-2
record, were loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans,
friends and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, Off the ice, team members have proven themselves to be an
unbeatable combination of athletic and academic talent, reflecting
favorably on their school having qualifying as a team to receive the
NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Team Award with an overall average of 95.00;
and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the efforts of Coach Michael Chiapparelli, and Assistant Coaches
Artie Bruno and Kurt Jackner, skilled and inspirational leaders,
respected for their ability to develop potential into excellence; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition instills the values of teamwork, sports-
manship, pride and accomplishment; Coach Michael Chiapparelli, Assistant
Coaches Artie Bruno and Kurt Jackner and all of the outstanding athletes
have clearly made a contribution to the spirit of excellence that is a
tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Mamaroneck Boys Varsity Hockey Team; its members: Luke
Charla, Nick Campbell, Jake Levine, Max Plonsker, Alex Ewald, Connor
LeBlanc, Ben Kahan, Will Arbo, Matt DiCicco, Kesin Ryan Dehejia, Tucker
Leicht, James Torre, Dan Palmer, Will Kirk, Will Payne, Matt Vaughan,
Jason Bienstock, Chris Conley, Michael Carducci, Ryan Rasor, Nick Fried-
land, Andrew Gargiulo, Tommy Spero, Harrison Schreiber and Brendan
Boyle; Head Coach Michael Chiapparelli, Assistant Coaches Artie Bruno
and Kurt Jackner, Athletic Trainer Shannon Lalli, and Athletic Director
Bari Suman on their outstanding season and overall team record; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Mamaroneck Boys Varsity Hockey Team, Coach Michael Chiap-
parelli, Assistant Coaches Artie Bruno and Kurt Jackner, Athletic Train-
er Shannon Lalli, and Athletic Director Bari Suman.
