LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Investigator Carmen Rojek upon the occa-
sion of his designation as recipient of the 2015 Carl Draxler Award by
the New York State Sheriffs' Association Institute, Inc.
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote them-
selves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in
providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities
and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Investigator
Carmen Rojek upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2015 Carl Draxler Award by the New York State Sheriffs' Association
Institute, Inc. celebrated at its Annual Awards Ceremony in Albany, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Given in memory of the late Sheriff of Chemung County, The
Carl Draxler Award, is bestowed upon an employee of a Sheriff's Office
whose exceptional career achievements and conscientious devotion to duty
have demonstrated a spirit of selfless public service; and
WHEREAS, Investigator Carmen Rojek was selected for this auspicious
award from a group of his peers from several Sheriff's Offices through-
out the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious career, Investigator Carmen Rojek
has worked tirelessly to protect the children of not only Oswego County,
but throughout the United States; he has been instrumental in the
successful arrest of many dangerous, serial sexual predators who have
committed crimes against children; and
WHEREAS, Since June of 1997, Investigator Carmen Rojek has been a
vital member of the Oswego County Sheriff's Office; for 10 years, he
served as a Road Patrol Deputy, and in 2008, he was promoted to Criminal
Investigator of the Sex Offense/Abused Persons Investigations Unit; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Investigator Carmen Rojek is the agency repre-
sentative for the Oswego County Multiple Disciplinary Team (MDT), which
coordinates investigations into child abuse and sexual abuse against
children in Oswego County; and
WHEREAS, In this capacity, Investigator Carmen Rojek took the initi-
ative to become an Advanced Forensic Interviewer, supported fellow
investigators as they learned and implemented new techniques, and he
always communicates effectively with advocates and concerned parties to
ensure that families and children receive appropriate services for their
long-term healing journey; and
WHEREAS, Investigator Carmen Rojek is known in the community for his
dedication, commitment and selfless devotion to investigating crimes
against children and victims of sexual crimes; his professionalism and
tireless effort to pursue justice has helped victims of violence, often
children, the ability to move forward in their lives, no longer living
in fear; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize and commend such outstanding
law enforcement officers as Investigator Carmen Rojek for their valued
contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Investigator Carmen Rojek upon the occasion of his designation as
the recipient of the 2015 Carl Draxler Award by the New York State Sher-
iffs' Association Institute, Inc.; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Investigator Carmen Rojek.
