LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Hamburg High School's Academy of
Finance upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of an Advance
CTE's Excellence in Action Award
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose
exemplary programs and accomplishment clearly demonstrate an enduring
pursuit of excellence in the education of the youth of the Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Hamburg High School's Academy of Finance upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of an Advance CTE's Excellence in Action Award;
and
WHEREAS, Excellence in Action awards are given to Career and Technical
Education programs throughout the country for their ability to prepare
students not only for higher education, but for jobs; and
WHEREAS, The Academy of Finance at Hamburg High School recently had
its entire senior class either move onto higher learning or received
jobs in the finance industry; and
WHEREAS, The Academy of Finance's curriculum is developed by an advi-
sory board of 40 business leaders who also provide workplace experience,
mock interviews, and scholarships for students; and
WHEREAS, Academy students set up and operate their own credit union,
with $15,000 in seed money from a local credit union; and
WHEREAS, Students can earn a range of financial industry certif-
ications because of this work; and
WHEREAS, Academy students are given a chance to receive college credit
from a number of different institutions and upon graduation, are
rewarded with a $2,000 scholarship from a local college; and
WHEREAS, The Advance CTE's Excellence in Action Award stands as a
resolute testimony to the Academy of Finance at Hamburg High School's
standards of excellence, its uncompromising values, unparalleled dedi-
cation, and the special teamwork of its family of students, parents,
teachers and administrators, who share common goals and uncommon expec-
tations; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Hamburg High School's Academy of Finance upon the occasion
of its designation as recipient of an Advance CTE's Excellence in Action
Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Academy of Finance.
