LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert Joy upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the J. Walter Juckett Community Service
Award by the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Robert Joy
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the J. Walter Juck-
ett Community Service Award by the Adirondack Regional Chamber of
Commerce, to be celebrated at its Annual Dinner on Thursday, March 12,
2015, at Heritage Hall, Glens Falls Civic Center, Glens Falls, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Robert Joy has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; through his commitment of service to the
Region, he is most deserving of this prestigious community award; and
WHEREAS, Founder and Managing Partner of JMZ Architects and Planners,
Robert Joy has been involved in countless nonprofit and charitable
organizations throughout the community; and
WHEREAS, Director of the Lake George Arts Project and the Glens Falls
Symphony Orchestra, Robert Joy has also served as Director of the SUNY
Adirondack Foundation, Feeder Canal Alliance, Glens Falls Industrial
Development Agency, and as Vice Chairman of the Greater Glens Falls LDC;
and
WHEREAS, Robert Joy has been a trustee for the Silver Bay Association
and Chapman Historical Association; in addition, he has been a Director
and Officer of the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce where he was
Chairman in 1993; and
WHEREAS, Actively involved with his alma mater, Cornell University,
Robert Joy has served on the Dean's Advisory Council, College of Archi-
tecture, Art & Planning; Dean Search Committee; Cornell University Coun-
cil; and the Committee on Alumni Trustee Nominations (Chair in 2010);
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Robert Joy has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Robert Joy has displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert Joy upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the J. Walter Juckett Community Service Award by the Adirondack
Regional Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert Joy.
