LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION recognizing the Bangladeshi American Advocacy
Group for many years of support and advocacy on behalf of Bangladesh
Americans in New York State

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with its
time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those organiza-
tions which foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of cultural
diversity which strengthens the fabric of the communities of New York
State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to recognize
the Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group for many years of support and
advocacy on behalf of Bangladesh Americans in New York State; and
WHEREAS, The Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group is a not-for-profit
organization which seeks to give a voice to the Bangladeshi Americans
living throughout the State of New York; the Bangladeshi American Advo-
cacy Group's primary mission is to bring social and political equality
in order to improve the quality of life of Bangladeshi Americans; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 2011 by several Bangladeshi Immigrants, the
Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group strives to give Bangladeshi Ameri-
cans a voice, and to encourage them to demand equal political rights, as
well as raise their quality of life; and
WHEREAS, The Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group hopes to achieve
these goals by sharing the Bangladeshi American community's political
and social concerns to various federal, state, and local elected offi-
cials; and
WHEREAS, The Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group speaks up for the
rights of all Bangladeshi Americans and seeks to bring positive changes
to the Bangladeshi American community; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, the Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group, Inc.,
is an umbrella organization which creates, supports, and sponsors initi-
atives and programs to help Bangladeshis living in the State of New
York; and
WHEREAS, A civic engagement organization, the Bangladeshi American
Advocacy Group engages in multicultural events, seminars, programs and
city services that will assist monolingual and bilingual people of
Bangladeshi origin; this organization is committed to working with
government agencies, community based organizations, and elected offi-
cials to better the lives of the Bangladeshi American community; and
WHEREAS, The Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group identifies and
addresses issues of importance to the Bangladeshi American community and
similarly situated South Asian Groups through collaboration with govern-
mental agencies and elected officials; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those organizations which contribute to the improvement
and enhancement of the quality of life in the communities they repre-
sent; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proudly moved to honor and commend
the Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group, which has labored so conscien-
tiously to secure and improve the quality of life for the residents and
community it serves, noting the significance of its unremitting efforts
to build a commonality of interest and pride of cooperative achievement,
inherent in the values of community and family life; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group for many years of support

and advocacy on behalf of Bangladesh Americans in the State of New York;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group.
