LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Linda Lee Lupian upon the occasion of
her retirement after 43 years of distinguished service to the Troy City
School District
WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled; its
history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its educa-
tional professionals and the students they inspire; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those outstanding
educational leaders whose dedication and achievements have been instru-
mental in developing character and academic excellence in the young
people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Linda Lee Lupian upon the occasion of her retirement after 43 years of
distinguished service to the Troy City School District; and
WHEREAS, Linda Lee Lupian graduated with honors from the State Univer-
sity of New York College at Oneonta in 1972, with a Bachelor of Science
degree in Home Economics Education; she went on to earn a Master's
degree in Home Economics from the State University of New York at
Plattsburgh in 1975; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the Town of Colonie, Linda Lee Lupian
began her career in education as a grade eight Home and Careers teacher
at School 18; she went on to become one of the original faculty members
of W. Kenneth Doyle Middle School, now Troy Middle School, in 1976; and
WHEREAS, During her illustrious tenure with the Troy City School
District, Linda Lee Lupian significantly enhanced the district through
her decades of service as a seventh and eighth grade Family and Consumer
Science Teacher; and
WHEREAS, Linda Lee Lupian has also served as Career Day Coordinator,
Junior Achievement Educator, and Curriculum Leader for all Career and
Technical Education Teachers in Troy Middle and High Schools; and
WHEREAS, Active within the community she so ably serves, Linda Lee
Lupian is a member of the American Association of Family and Consumer
Sciences, Family and Consumer Science Educators Association, Phi Upsilon
Omicron, and the New York State Association of Family and Consumer
Science Education, who recognized her as "Area Teacher of the Year" in
1998; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Linda Lee Lupian is a strong supporter of The
Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet in Latham, New York, and funds a
scholarship at the State University of New York College at Oneonta for
students studying Home Economics; and
WHEREAS, Educators like Linda Lee Lupian provide a tremendous service
to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of young
people in their educational journeys and ensuring their success in their
future years; and
WHEREAS, Linda Lee Lupian has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of the Troy City School District and the community at large, and
accordingly merits recognition and applause for many impressive years of
dedication to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Linda Lee Lupian upon the occasion of her retirement after 43
years of distinguished service to the Troy City School District, and to
wish her continued success in all of her future endeavors; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Linda Lee Lupian.
