LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Adrian Huff upon the occasion of his
retirement after 35 years of distinguished service to the International
Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 445

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Adrian Huff upon the occasion of his retirement after 35 years of
distinguished service to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters
(IBT) Local 445 to be celebrated with a party held in his honor on
Wednesday, April 29, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Adrian Huff joined the IBT Local 445 through an organizing
effort which he helped spearhead at the age of 21; his passion for
ensuring accountability, responsibility, and integrity kept him involved
in union affairs; and
WHEREAS, That same passion prompted Adrian Huff to run for President
of Local 445 in 2005; subsequently, he won the election; and
WHEREAS, Since 2007, Adrian Huff has held the position of Secretary
/Treasurer, Principal Officer, and winning re-election in 2009 and 2013;
since being elected, he has worked with his team to increase membership
by an impressive 30%; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Adrian Huff is responsible for overseeing all
Collective Bargaining Agreement, labor relations, and organizing efforts
within Local 445; today, Local 445 boasts a membership of over 3,300
Teamsters, consisting of construction workers, nurses, civil servants,
food industry workers, police and correction officers, college employ-
ees, school bus drivers and hospital workers; and
WHEREAS, Adrian Huff has taken an active role within the IBT in organ-
izing over 60,000 school bus drivers across the United States and Cana-
da; he and Local 445 have been recognized internationally within the
IBT; and
WHEREAS, In March of 2011, Adrian Huff received the IBT's General
Secretary/Treasurer Award for accomplishments in helping to restructure
the Massey Energy Corporation hierarchy after the death of 29 miners in
April of 2010, the deadliest coal mining accident in over 40 years; and
WHEREAS, An outspoken advocate for the working people's rights, Adrian
Huff has worked to ensure fair and equitable contracts for Local 445
members; he and his team have successfully organized over 700 school bus
drivers, and 150 police officers, working towards 200 additional law
enforcement personnel, winning more than 35 organizing victories; and
WHEREAS, Adrian Huff serves as the Chairman of the Board of Local 445
Benefit Fund, and is also a Trustee of Teamsters Local 338 Funds, and
the Secretary/Treasurer of the Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Adrian Huff served with loyalty, honor
and distinction and was governed by a keen sense of duty and always
showed a unique grasp of human problems, earning the admiration, esteem
and affection of his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, An active member of his parish, St. Joseph's in Florida, New
York, Adrian Huff has served three terms as past Vice President of St.
Joseph's Holy Name Society; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 24 years, Mary, and
their three children, Martha, Lisa and Jesse, as well as their 4 year
old grandson, Jeffrey, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his
life and rejoice in his achievements; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Adrian Huff upon the occasion of his retirement after 35 years of
distinguished service to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters
Local 445, and to wish him well in all his future endeavors; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Adrian Huff.
