LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Gino Alberici upon the occasion of his
designation as a 2015 Inductee into the Auburn Alumni Hall of
Distinction, on May 15, 2015
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Gino Alberici upon the occasion of his designation as a 2015 Inductee
into the Auburn Alumni Hall of Distinction, to be celebrated at an
Induction Ceremony on Friday, May 15, 2015, at the Hilton Garden Inn,
Auburn, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Auburn Alumni Hall of Distinction was established in
2012, by the Auburn Education Foundation to recognize, honor and cele-
brate graduates who have distinguished themselves through outstanding
academic, professional, or civic achievements and to inspire current
students to pursue a path towards personal success; and
WHEREAS, A man of singular merit, Gino Alberici, Auburn High Class of
1954, has continually demonstrated tremendous competence, extraordinary
intelligence and diligent leadership in his unwavering service to both
his community and his profession and consequently has been selected for
this most prestigious honor; and
WHEREAS, A life-long resident of Auburn, Gino Alberici graduated from
Auburn West High School in 1954; while a student, he was named to both
the Herald American Upstate Football Team and to the High School All-Am-
erican Team; and
WHEREAS, Upon graduating, Gino Alberici attended Holy Cross College,
Notre Dame, Indiana, on a football scholarship; after attaining his
bachelor's degree, he began his career at Port Byron High School teach-
ing social studies; as a respected and admired teacher and coach, he was
named Teacher of the Year in 1979; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure as Head Football Coach for Port Byron High
School, Gino Alberici was named Coach of the Year five times, and is
ranked among the top coaches with the most wins in the New York State
Football program; throughout 32 years of coaching, he and his team
members won 13 league titles; and
WHEREAS, In addition to football, Gino Alberici coached soccer for one
year and varsity basketball for several years at Port Byron High School;
he was inducted into the illustrious Auburn High School Athletic Hall of
Fame in 2003; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of Gino Alberici's dedication to youth and
education, in 2012, the members of the Port Byron Board of Education
officially named the football field in his honor; and
WHEREAS, For two years, Gino Alberici served as the President of the
Auburn Enlarged City School District Board of Education, and was a vital
member for nine years; and
WHEREAS, Gino Alberici was also the pony-league Commissioner for
Auburn Little League Baseball and participated on the Board of Directors
for both the Neighborhood House and the YMCA; and
WHEREAS, Active in his community, Gino Alberici and his wife, Maxine,
held the position of co-Chairs of the United Way Campaign; in addition,
he was a member of the Owasco Town Board for 12 years, holding the title
of Supervisor for two years; and
WHEREAS, Gino Alberici has also been a faithful congregant of the
Sacred Heart Church, where he and Maxine co-Chaired the Church's 50th
Anniversary Committee; and
WHEREAS, Today, Gino Alberici serves on the Cayuga County Tourism
Board, the Cayuga County Parks and Trails Commission, and the Tompkins
Trust Board of Business Development; he is also a member of the Board of
Auburn High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Maxine, his six chil-
dren, and 17 grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of
his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Gino Alberici upon the occasion of his designation as a 2015
Inductee into the Auburn Alumni Hall of Distinction, on May 15, 2015;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gino Alberici.
