LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Investigator Robert A. Faynor upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of the Superintendent's Commen-
dation Award by the New York State Police

WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of community life are cherished values
worthy of safeguarding, and this Legislative Body is moved to honor
those exemplary public servants who devote their lives to preserving and
protecting such values; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Investigator Robert A. Faynor upon the occasion of his designation as a
recipient of the Superintendent's Commendation Award by the New York
State Police to be celebrated at the 39th Annual Awards Day Ceremony on
Monday, May 11, 2015, in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, On June 13, 2014, Investigator Robert A. Faynor was assigned
to the Syracuse Gang Violence Task Force, a unit formed to combat
violent street gangs operating in the Syracuse area; and
WHEREAS, Investigator Robert A. Faynor was performing security duties
during a funeral, when a known gang member was identified during the
service armed with a handgun; after being approached, the gang member
fled on foot through the crowd; and
WHEREAS, Without regard for his own safety, Investigator Robert A.
Faynor positioned himself to intercept the fleeing suspect; he tackled
him to the ground, and helped authorities recover a loaded .38 caliber
revolver the man was carrying; and
WHEREAS, Through his heroic actions, Investigator Robert A. Faynor
demonstrated his character and compassion for the welfare of others,
personifying the collective concern of public servants across the commu-
nity of the State of New York who respond when others are in need of
help; and
WHEREAS, Born on June 13, 1967, to Robert and Angie Faynor, Robert A.
Faynor followed in the footsteps of his father, a 31-year veteran of the
New York State Police; and
WHEREAS, On April 30, 2015, Investigator Robert A. Faynor of CNET,
Troop H, will officially retire after 26 years of distinguished service;
and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Kelly, and their two
sons, Bob and Matthew, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his
life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those extraor-
dinary public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preser-
vation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full
praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Investigator Robert A. Faynor upon the occasion of his designation
as recipient of the Superintendent's Commendation Award by the New York
State Police; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Investigator Robert A. Faynor.
